    Home Upgrade Grant (HUG)<\/mark><\/strong><\/h4>\r\n

    The Home Upgrade Grant<\/strong> is a government-funded scheme designed to help improve the energy efficiency of low\u2011income, off\u2011gas\u2011grid homes. It provides significant financial support for measures such as insulation, low\u2011carbon heating, draught\u2011proofing, and renewable technologies. For eligible properties, HUG can cover a large portion, or in some cases the full cost of the upgrade work, making it one of the most valuable schemes available to landlords with harder\u2011to\u2011heat homes. By accessing HUG, landlords can reduce running costs for tenants, improve EPC ratings, and future\u2011proof their properties against tightening energy standards.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Energy Company Obligation (ECO4)<\/mark><\/strong><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    This support is for homes with low EPC rating and has existing electric or solid fuel heating.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    There is currently up to 100% funding available for energy-saving measures taken for replacing electric heaters or solid fuel heating, which can include installing gas central heating if the property has not had central heating previously, and there must be an existing mains gas supply within 25 metres of the property. The grant also covers with the above criteria installing cavity wall or internal wall and loft or room in roof (bedroom in loft) insulation.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    The landlord can help the tenant do the form filling and will have to give written permission to do the improvements. The application must be done through an approved energy supplier<\/a> (even if they are not your supplier), you can visit the Ofgem ECO page<\/a> for more information. The ECO scheme requires energy suppliers to help households improve their energy efficiency.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    L.A.Flex is a scheme which helps (private) tenants that do not have Central Heating and are at risk of fuel poverty and could be eligible for ECO4 if they do not receive benefits (normally over 60\u2019s or children under 5 or health problems) but is dependent on the individual council. The tenant will qualify for funding if they receive at least one of the following benefits: Child Benefit*, Pension Guarantee Credit, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), Income Support, Tax Credits (Child \/Working), Universal Credit, Housing benefit, Pension Credit Savings Credit.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    *Child Benefits must also be below the income threshold of:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Single Parent;<\/strong> 1 child \u00a318.5k, 2 children \u00a323k, 3 children 27.5k, 4+ children 32k.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Couple Parents<\/strong>; 1 child \u00a325.5k, 2 children \u00a330k, 3 children 34.5k, 4+ children 39k.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

     <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Boiler Upgrade Scheme<\/mark><\/strong><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    is a UK government initiative designed to encourage the adoption of low-carbon heating systems. The scheme aims to reduce carbon emissions by supporting the installation of renewable heating technologies, such as heat pumps and biomass boilers.\u00a0Homeowners could receive up to \u00a37,500 for air and ground source heat pumps\u00a0and \u00a35,000 for biomass boilers.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    The scheme is available to property owners in England and Wales. It targets the replacement of fossil fuel heating systems, including oil, gas, electric, or LPG systems. You must have a\u00a0valid Energy Performance Certificate<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    You can get a grant for a biomass boiler if your property is off the gas grid AND your is in a rural location (check the\u00a0Ofgem guidance for property owners<\/a>\u00a0if you\u2019re not sure) AND your boiler has an emissions certificate showing that polluting emissions are kept to a minimum. Biomass grants are not available for Self-build properties.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    You cannot get a grant for social housing or new build properties which the developer is still building or a property that\u2019s already been given government support for either a heat pump or biomass boiler.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    You can apply for a heat pump under the scheme if you move into a finished new build with a fossil fuel boiler.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    A private self-built property is eligible (not biomass) unless it\u2019s been owned by a business or organisation. Proof that your property is a self-build, for example, a copy of the title deeds, will have to be given to the installer for the grant.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Private Rented Sector Landlord Loan.<\/mark><\/strong><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    This loan is for Scottish landlords only. You can get impartial advice from\u00a0a network of specialist advisors,\u00a0which is funded by the Scottish Government.\u00a0If a property visit is required, an\u00a0advisor will carry out an assessment on the current energy demands of your property, recommended improvements, the approximate cost of making these improvements, potential fuel bill and carbon savings, any potential income you could make from installing a renewable energy system, and the estimated improvement in the property’s Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) score.     Northern Ireland Affordable Warmth Scheme<\/mark><\/strong><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    The Affordable Warmth Scheme is designed to deal with fuel poverty and energy inefficiency.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    The scheme is directed at low-income households. Applicants\u00a0may receive up to \u00a37,500 (\u00a310,00 if you have solid walls) through the scheme, and the Technical Officer will recommend on the measures for the grant.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Landlords must agree to the work to be done and then pay 50% of the total cost of upgrading their property. The Landlord must be registered with the Department for Communities’ Landlord Registration Scheme,\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    The applicant for the\u00a0scheme must\u00a0live in Northern Ireland, rent from a private landlord,\u00a0and have a total annual gross income of less than\u00a0\u00a323,000.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    It is not available for tenants living in social housing; applicants\u00a0are not eligible if they\u00a0are a Housing Executive or housing association tenant. The scheme provides grant aid to improve energy efficiency measures within the\u00a0home. The property must not be a holiday home, a bed & breakfast, or a commercial establishment, and grants are subject to the availability of funding.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    If you qualify for help, the priority must be in order of 1) Insulation \/ Ventilation \/ Draught-proofing, 2) Heating 3) Windows 4) solid wall measures.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Tenants can apply for home energy efficiency improvements, including insulation, a heat pump, and solar panels.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Applicants will have to have permission from the landlord and could be eligible for free home energy efficiency improvements if they meet all 3 conditions.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      \r\n
    1. They privately rent their home (not local authority or housing association).<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    2. They receive benefits or live in a low-income household.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    3. The property has an EPC rating of E or less or an EPC rating of D or less where a household member has an eligible health condition.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      This support is for homes with low EPC rating of D to G and is in a council tax band of A \u2013 D in England and A to E in Scotland and Wales (excluding Northern Ireland).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      The landlord can apply directly for this scheme, which is for free or cheaper insulation to reduce the energy usage. \u00a0You may be able to get support to install cavity or solid wall insulation, loft or room in roof insulation, flat or pitched roof insulation, underfloor or solid floor insulation, park home insulation,<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG)<\/mark><\/strong><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      The landlord can apply direct for this grant in England and Wales, with N Ireland requiring a recommendation from an Occupational Therapist, which helps disabled individuals make necessary adaptations to their homes. DFG is for adaptations (that cost over \u00a31,000 and up to \u00a325k in Northern Ireland, \u00a330k in England, and \u00a336k in Wales) such as installing ramps, widening doorways, or adding accessible bathrooms. Adults are means-tested for DFG but children are not.
